Adult Sunday School Class ... starting January 7!
After the holidays, we invite you to join the adult Sunday class for a study that is sensitive, timely, and important to us as individual Christians and as a church. It is a CRC video series called "Facing Racism” a Biblical approach to being an inclusive community of God." After viewing a short video each week, Darrel Bell and Mark Spee will lead a discussion. The series starts with Kingdom Diversity saying that God does not show favoritism. It looks at the damaging, systemic effects of racism and asks what barriers there might be in our church to racial diversity. Then, it gets more personal and examines what is racism (personal, institutional, cultural, and systemic). What does racism look like? We will look at barriers that keep us from dismantling racism (like uncontested stereotypes and generational beliefs) and what skills we will need for reconciliation. Finally, how can we be "bearers of shalom" in our church and community.
